I’d like to use this opportunity to introduce myself properly. My name is Rachel, and I’m a full-time college professor in Durham’s Duke University. I have majored in English literature and have devoted my life to teaching young and ambitious minds about writing. This is also one of the main reasons I’ve decided to start a blog.

Whether you are my student or someone that came here by accident – welcome! This blog serves to introduce would-be writers and young students to the world of academic and novel writing. My main concern is to talk about different experiences, tips and how-to guides that I came across in my own research as a student and a fresh graduate. I will also use this blog as a reference for active students in their writing needs. This will hopefully reflect in the community and the number of people participating in future discussions (fingers crossed).

When it comes to specific content, my plan is to blog as a part-time writer. My full-time job does allow me to spend some time each week and craft an article (or three) based on trending topics concerning writing. I will also use my student body as advisors and take their interests into consideration. You are also free to add any comments or suggestions about future content should you want to discuss a particular topic in regards to literature or writing.

I am very excited to be able to do this while maintaining a day job and being able to connect the two. While the topic of blogging is new to me and I have little knowledge as to what “the kids love these days”, I will make sure to go through any messages and comments that drop by.

Feel free to explore the blog as much as you want and make sure to bookmark it. Sending the link to an interesting article you found here to a friend is also a great way to support the community we will build as we go forward. Keep your eyes peeled for new content and hopefully, we will talk soon. Have a good one! – Rachel.
