Cities with fantastic architecture
Cities blessed by nature with beautiful scenery certainly fascinates us… but if cities are even more impressive in that effort, imagination and human ambition raised truly wonders. Buildings with amazing architecture, it was the first criterion on which we selected the few iconic cities below…
Several decades from now there was desert and wasteland. Until oil billionaires, aware that there will come a day when natural resources will be exhausted decided to make from this place, the largest and most impressive tourist paradise of the world. And they turned their vanguard project and apparently really crazy. Today among the sand dunes rise the most spectacular buildings of the modern world. Dubai boasts with Burj Al Arab, the only 7-star hotel in the world and the highest from the world. In terms of architecture, it is overshadowed by the giant construction projects and other buildings nearby.
We can not talk about cities with fantastic architecture without mentioning at least one American city. And although New York has its strengths (Statue of Liberty and skyscrapers of Manhattan) eventually we stopped in Chicago, the cradle of skyscrapers. City Winds, like spoiled Chicago, was devastated by the Great Fire of 1871. But it left the ground but rose from the ashes more proud than ever. Famous architects from around the world came here and contributed to the “rebirth” of the building known today. The Sears Tower, for example, is the tallest building from the United States. Then Wrigley building, is located the famous producers of chewing gum and is an impressive building.
When we are talking about great architecture we can not avoid one of the most visited cities in the world, Paris. The city is a real open air museum where you can admire the different architectural styles: medieval, classical, neoclassical, Renaissance and Art Nouveau. Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Versailles, Paris museums and cathedrals are already well known worldwide and not need a introduction. When they add modern architectural achievements such as the famous glass pyramid in front of the Louvre.
Barcelona bears with the great architect Antonio Gaudi, and the other architects of genius. Gaudi was a pioneer of his time. With its bright colors, mosaic tile patterns, shapes inspired by nature and architecture radically different from “fashion” of the time, the architect from the city changed forever. Barcelona is a colorful city, both literally and figuratively, modern and bold accents. Among the buildings that we recommend in our list include stunning Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, Palau de la Musica Catalana and Casa Mila.
Beijing is recommended by ancient architecture, but also by avant-garde projects. Somewhere on the border between traditional and post-modernism, the city presents tourists a fantastic set. In Beijing there is the only building visible from the moon and one of the wonders of the world: the Great Wall of China. The wall has more than 2,000 years, stretches on almost 9000 km and is a symbol of Chinese civilization. As the traditional architecture of imperial China, symmetrical and full of decorative details, it can be seen in the “Forbidden City” from Beijing.
Athens preserved ancient architecture like no other city in the world. Here is the cradle of the oldest myths of ancient cults, the most impressive religious festivals, and here were several decisive events in world history. Buildings on the Acropolis are impressive evidence of creativity and ingenuity of the ancients. Pantheon for instance, was built in nine years and is one of the most famous buildings from the world.
