The carnival of Venice in the country of waffles
For some a stereotype, for others one of the last bastions of chivalric romance, Venice remains a marvel of past centuries, a floating city brought to life by the human mastery of the time. Despite shortcomings currently facing, the mirage of the floating city, successfully persist, making it one of the most interesting and charming places in the world.
This sanctuary of love, built in a fairy lagoon, kept largely the same image on a display 600 years ago. Probably the romantic atmosphere, a symbiosis between old architecture ennobled by the fine fragrance history, is why the city can be treated as a character… and a fascinating one.
The Carnival of Venice
A month of every year, Venice dressed in holiday garb and city relives its glorious and colorful past. The first mention of the carnival is in 1094, and in 1269 enters in “legality”. If you get here in February, you have the strange feeling that the time machine was invented already, and you were lucky enough to be one of the passengers.
In the last period of the carnival meant the abolition of the hierarchy, even if briefly. Only when all the inhabitants of Venice were equal. There was one occasion, an exceptional, which brought together nobles and common people. Dress festive and hidden behind masks, people could spend together, free from prejudices and feuds. Banned a long period of time, the carnival was resumed in the late of 70′s, as his fame has spread rapidly all over the world.
Those who want to take part in reviving the past with thousands of people must show a bit of pragmatism before diving into romance. To attend at the Venetian Carnival in February should make booking tickets and accommodation for several months before. Do not imagine that this will get rid of endless crowds (especially during this period), but you can console yourself that you will get fun.
The country of waffles
Sweet. Warm. Clouds of fluffy dough, fallen from heaven’s taste that melts in the oasis-language as clumps of snow in the middle of spring. Most often bathed in hedonistic-tempting toppings, murmurous of pleasure and sin. A marvel of goodness!
