Travel by car or plane, which is better?
When traveling through Europe and you have available your own car, one of the decisions you must make is whether you opt for a flight or to go on the road with your private car. The answer is not always so simple, so you must consider some several important factors regarding transportation.
1. Independence
If you like to go on the road and make stops here and there, at interesting places, then personal car is the right choice. You can do a route through Europe or in one country, stopping is not only the major tourist attractions, but also in mountain towns, unknown and picturesque beaches near empty so intimate.
As the plane takes you from point A to point B, the car allows an unlimited number of stops. Although the car cannot supports dozens or hundreds of people, on a plane you can sit comfortably on a chair but you have to sit on the chair the whole time of the travel. Where, with a car you can do breaks anytime you want and you can have freedom of movement, as opposed to the plane.
2. Luggage
When traveling with your family or when you go to shopping abroad, it may be more convenient to choose the car, especially because you have big space for luggage. On low cost airlines checked baggage fees are between 15 and 20 euros, while with the company line, these taxes are included in the ticket price.
3. Time and money
Time and money are the two factors that should be considered with much care. At the airport you have to wait until takeoff, to make boarding formalities, recover luggage, etc. However, the longer the flight distance, the more time you save.
By car you decide at what time you leave and when you arrive, but you must take into account the traffic, the weather, highway fees, breaks etc. On a distance that takes a few hours, the car is the cheaper option. But roads for 12 hours or more, can be extremely tiring.
4. Safety
Flight by plane is safer than traveling by car. According to the Smithsonian Institution, more people died in the U.S. in three months, in car accident than in the entire history of commercial flight. Safety, however, is linked with the region in which you will drive.
